Pop Balloons Beta4 Author: TheDane mail: thedane_ut@hotmail.com web: unrealtournament.info Description: Pop Balloons is a singleplayer mod. It is a gamestyle heavily inspired by the game "Battle Tower Defense" by Ninjakiwi. Balloons are flying across the map and it's your task to prevent them from crossing the map. If they do so you will loose life and eventualy fail to complete your mission if eneough balloons skips your defenses. To begin with you only have a weak little dart gun as weapon. As you advance in rank and collect money (by popping balloons) you can upgrade your weaponry in the menu. You can also buy towers to assist you defending the map. The weapons you buy is yours forever, but the towers you buy are only yours for the remainder of the battle - next fight your start all over! You must spent your money wisely as the balloons gets harder and harder by each round - there are 50 rounds to be completed! When you upgrade your weaponry you must pay attention that your projectiles hit their targets, because it costs money to fire all weapons except your base dart weapon. So if you party out shooting left and right you won't be saving much for a tower right? The towers all have their pro and cons, each comes with 3 available upgrades that can be obtained in the menu. Once you have purchased an upgrade for a specific type of tower, that upgrade aplies to all towers of the same type. There are money to be made if you plan well how to place and upgrade the towers, notice that a tower costs the same regardless of it's upgrade level. You can view what upgrade level a tower has by looking at how many stripes it has on its base. The weapons you equip yourself with doesn't all pop the same type of balloons, your base weapon can't pop clay and metal balloon for example, so you need to upgrade with a weapon that can pop these or add a tower before they start entering the map. And no, I'm not telling what round they start - you have to sweat a little and find out yourself haha!! Towers are great helpers and they can pop every type of balloon - pfheew!! right? Once you have placed a tower you it will remain there for the duration of the match, however, you can always sell one of your towers using the mutate command. Each tower will have its name and unique number displayed on the HUD along with its sell value. To sell a specific tower you must use the mutate command: "MUTATE SELL X"(without the quotes!), where X is the unique number your tower has been given when you placed it. Clean Installation: Copy/paste all folders to the corresponding folder of your UT install. You can disregard the readme files - they are not needed for the beta game to work :-) If you upgrade from beta1 might want to considder backing up your ini files before applying the upgrade. Keybind notice: By default your F8 key will be assigned with the keybind to open/close the menu. If you for some reason don't want the F8 key to open/close the menu you can assign the keybind to another key by adding "x=| mutate POPBALLOONSMENU" without the quotes and x beeing the key you want to open/close the menu with. By doing this before launching the game the keybind will not be assigned to the F8 key by default. Upgrading from beta1: Beta1 has a package named: PopBalloonsActor.u and a .int file with the same name, those files should be deleted as they are no longer used by the mod. If you do not delete these files then the mutators in that package may conflict with a later release - you have been warned hehe.
